Help build cloud infrastructure for startups that move fast.

We are looking for an OpenStack Cloud Engineer to help design, operate, automate, and scale the infrastructure behind redu.cloud.

Open roleOpenStack Cloud Engineer

Remote / hybrid in European time zones. Full-time role focused on real cloud infrastructure.

Infrastructure-first work

Work directly on compute, networking, storage, automation, reliability, and the platform foundation.

Small technical team

Join early enough to shape engineering practices, platform decisions, and how redu.cloud operates.

Real cloud systems

This is not dashboard-only cloud work. You will work close to OpenStack, Linux, networking, Ceph, and automation.

About the role

As an OpenStack Cloud Engineer, you will help design, build, automate, and operate highly available cloud infrastructure. You will work across compute, networking, storage, Linux systems, automation, monitoring, and reliability to deliver a dependable cloud platform for redu.cloud users.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and operate OpenStack services in production, including Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Keystone, Glance, and related components.
  • Build and maintain robust virtualization stacks using KVM, QEMU, libvirt, and Linux systems engineering practices.
  • Plan, operate, and troubleshoot software-defined networking using OVS, OVN, Neutron, VLANs, VXLAN overlays, routing, firewalls, security groups, and load balancing.
  • Operate and tune cloud storage platforms such as Ceph RBD, object storage, and Cinder backends for performance and reliability.
  • Automate infrastructure with Ansible, Git-based workflows, and repeatable infrastructure practices.
  • Monitor, log, troubleshoot, and capacity-plan production systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering and support to deliver platform features and resolve customer issues.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience operating OpenStack in production or large-scale private cloud environments.
  • Strong virtualization knowledge: KVM, QEMU, libvirt, CPU, memory, NUMA, and live migration concepts.
  • Solid SDN and networking knowledge: OVS, OVN, Neutron, VLAN/VXLAN, routing, BGP fundamentals, firewalls, security groups, and load balancing.
  • Cloud storage expertise: Ceph RBD/Object, Cinder backends, multipath, iSCSI, or NVMe-oF fundamentals.
  • Strong Linux systems engineering skills across Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, or similar distributions.
  • Automation experience with Ansible and comfort with Git-based workflows.
  • Python and/or Bash scripting for tooling, automation, troubleshooting, and integrations.
  • Security and hardening awareness across compute, network, and storage layers.
  • Clear written communication in English and ability to document architectures, runbooks, and operational decisions.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Kubernetes on OpenStack, container networking, or container storage.
  • Operating Ceph at scale, including RGW, Swift API compatibility, CRUSH maps, tuning, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Observability experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK, alerting, and production dashboards.
  • Certifications such as COA, CKA, CKAD, RHCE, or similar.
What we value

We care about practical infrastructure judgment.

This role is for someone who can reason through real systems, troubleshoot under pressure, automate repeatable work, and make production infrastructure more reliable over time.

Deep troubleshooting

You should be comfortable debugging Linux, OpenStack services, networking paths, storage behavior, logs, metrics, and failure modes.

Automation mindset

Manual fixes should become repeatable processes, scripts, playbooks, runbooks, and eventually better platform behavior.

Reliability focus

The goal is not only to make infrastructure work, but to make it understandable, observable, recoverable, and dependable.

Hiring process

Simple and technical.

We want to understand what you have operated, how you think, and whether this role is a strong fit for both sides.
